"He's a ball of energy and one heck on angler." stated NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler as he saw Shaun Gardner come up to his portion of Paint Creek and put on a clinic. "He's dang good and will be a force this year to compete against!" He managed a near NAPRA record 21" bass to secure a 71" total and edge Steve Eckstein (69.25") for the win. Tony Herald finished 3rd with 57.75". The NAPRA pros get a week off and are back on the trail May 7th on the GMR in Sidney.

STAGE 2- TWIN CREEK
NAPRA NEWS: NEWELL WINS AT TWIN CREEK
When you hear an ice cream truck bell or Christmas carols, it warms you heart! In the NAPRA Elite Series when the words “Twin Creek” are uttered, Aaron Newell’s face lights up like a little toddler on December 25th. Well, today (May 21) was pleasing to Aaron as he scored 78.25” of fish to secure the Stage 2 victory at Twin Creek. His smallest of his 5 keepers was 15.25” so you know he was in for a great day. Also finishing great was David Craig, last year’s AOY, with a super 71” bag for second place. New 2023 AOY Standings leader Steve Eckstein finished third with 69.25”, good for 3rd place. Collectively the field of 12 caught an almost 45” on average on a good day but tough day due to the recent cold front. Three fish caught scored over 17” so you know its just heating up. The field will be back in action for Stage 3 at the GMR Sidney/Piqua locations on June 4th.

NAPRA NEWS: Newell Sets Record! Wins Elite #3
Aaron Newell, on the strength of 86 inches shatters Brett Swanson's 81" total that has been on the books since 2016, to claim the YUM Elite Stage 3 on the GMR. The average bag was 71" and quite a massive log jam for second to fifth place. 2023 Rookie Ryan Bucker was second with 78.5" including a 22" hybrid! Third was Ralph Evans with 76" followed by Steve Eckstein's 74".
The Elite field will host Wade War IX next week at Three Creeks Park near Groveport, Ohio.

STAGE 4- STILLWATER RIVER
NAPRA NEWS: Eckstein Beats Rain and Field!
Steve Eckstein continues to keep his lead in the AOY standings thanks to great 1st place finish in the Elite #4 on the Stillwater today. Despite a 38 minute pause for a down pour, soreness from yesterday's Gauntlet run, and travel, he collected his tunnel like vision to edge out a very close top 5 finishers. His 63.75" bested second place Aaron Newell's 59.75". We had a triple tie for 3rd that came down to a double tiebreaker.
When all was said in down Tony Herald claimed 3rd, David Craig 4th and Ryan Buckler 5th. Each had 58.75". Shaun Gardner had 6th place with 56.75 followed byRalph Evans and 55.75 for 7th. Pete Ziehler had 50.5 followed by Dave Schaller for 8th and 9th.

Newell’s 19” Beast Edges Him Past Craig for Yum Elite Stage 5
The anglers got to pick and choose their spots. Aaron utilized his favorite spots, Twin and the Stillwater to vault him to the top spot in the Yum Elite Series Stage 5 event. The anglers got to pick their spots, time, and pace in a unique format for the Elite field. “This gave the anglers the chance to play to their strengths in terms of lures, conditions, and timing of their trip. The anglers sure came to play!’ stated NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler. Aaron’s 80.75” edged David Craig’s 80.5”, the second place finisher. Ryan Buckler, whom lost a tie breaker in the BOSS Series, was able to claim a tie breaker for 3rd over Tony Herald. Both had 78.75”. The anglers will return to the waters of the GMR next week as current conditions warrant a swap of rivers (GMR Tipp for the LMR Loveland sites).

STAGE 6- GMR TIPP/DAYTON
FORTHCOMINGNAPRA NEWS: NEWELL WINS AGAIN/ CLOSE TO CLINCHING AOY!
Aaron Newell was nervous about fishing the Tipp City stretch of the GMR in the NAPRA Yum Elite Stage 6. He paired up with NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler and quickly adjusted to the conditions to show his mastery of the course and score 71" of fish. His latest victory will make the entire field hard pressed to catch him in the AOY points race. Second place angler Ryan Buckler yelled "Not again" as he was edged again for the top spot by 1/2". His 70.5" was a great day but just not enough to best Newell. Shaun Gardner finished 3rd with 67" followed by Dave Schaller's 66.5" for forth.
The Elite Field will have a week off before they end their regular season July 30th on the waters of the LMR in Loveland.

STAGE 7- LMR BELLBROOK
NAPRA NEWS: Newell Wins Again and Eyes AOY Honors
Aaron Newell is going to need a bigger mantle to secure all his awards. Today, in the NAPRA YUM Elite Event #7 he earned another 1st place win and most likely the AOY award heading into the NAPRA CUP in two weeks. The field fished the Stillwater River again after a multitude of changes due to a recent blast of rain disabling other original choices. His 78.5" of fish included no fish under 15". Way to go! Ralph Evans, winner of the BOSS #1, returned to the podium with a strong 2nd place finish. His 75.75" included an 18" behemoth! Steve Eckstein finished 3rd with 74" even and was able to vault Ryan Buckler (7th today with 61") for 2nd place in the AOY race. The Elite Series will conclude their season with the NAPRA CUP in two weeks on the waters of the LMR in Bellbrook.

Evans storms off with two 18" bass to surely win the first stage of the BOSS Series. His totals in the Elite Series didn't improve his BOSS totals but kept him just enough ahead of Matt Wesley's 50". CRAIG FINDS EM' BEATS THE RAIN TO BEAT THE FIELD!
David Craig had a game plan to get out Saturday and get the fish before the lightening storm of the century hit the majority of the waters for the BOSS Series. His intuition paid off as he caught lunker after lunker. He told NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler it was a great day and it was surly form him. His 53" total included two 17.5's and an 18 for a massive bag. Fishing Slate River in Kentucky was newcomer Ryan Buckler whom finished 2nd with 50.75 to edge Josh Baird's 50.5 for third. Multiple anglers caught fish over 17 on a very tough day for some. “Super slow” was the way to go for David Craig as he showed his craft of being patience, looking for key bites, and securing a big limit. His 51.25” including an 18 ½” beast of a fish helped him win the BOSS Series Stage 4. Second place went to Aaron Newell with 50.5” Ralph Evans and Ryan Buckler both had 49” with Ralph winning the tie breaker (biggest fish) to bump Ryan to fourth.
The BOSS Series will have their final stage with the Top 12 looking to punch their tickets to the BOSS Cup while two anglers battle for the “Lucky 13” spot as alternates.

Ryan Buckler managed some big fish (17.5x2, 17) to get 52" and win the BOSS Series Stage 5. This is Ryan's first career win and was very impressive by the pictures sent. The final BOSS event now cements the BOSS field in which the Top 12 will battle it out for a winner take all BOSS CUP championship. Finishing 2nd was Dave Craig's 49.75" (winner of regular season), followed by Tim Smith's consistent run of fish with 49.5". The last stage's results are:

THE LOOK ON RYAN BUCKLER'S FACE WHEN HE REALIZED HE WON HIS FIRST NAPRA EVENT WAS PRICELESS! NAPRA NEWS: NEWELL WINS AT TWIN CREEK
When you hear an ice cream truck bell or Christmas carols, it warms you heart! In the NAPRA Elite Series when the words “Twin Creek” are uttered, Aaron Newell’s face lights up like a little toddler on December 25th. Well, today (May 21) was pleasing to Aaron as he scored 78.25” of fish to secure the Stage 2 victory at Twin Creek. His smallest of his 5 keepers was 15.25” so you know he was in for a great day. Also finishing great was David Craig, last year’s AOY, with a super 71” bag for second place. New 2023 AOY Standings leader Steve Eckstein finished third with 69.25”, good for 3rd place. Collectively the field of 12 caught an almost 45” on average on a good day but tough day due to the recent cold front. Three fish caught scored over 17” so you know its just heating up. The field will be back in action for Stage 3 at the GMR Sidney/Piqua locations on June 4th.

NAPRA NEWS: Newell Sets Record! Wins Elite #3
Aaron Newell, on the strength of 86 inches shatters Brett Swanson's 81" total that has been on the books since 2016, to claim the YUM Elite Stage 3 on the GMR. The average bag was 71" and quite a massive log jam for second to fifth place. 2023 Rookie Ryan Bucker was second with 78.5" including a 22" hybrid! Third was Ralph Evans with 76" followed by Steve Eckstein's 74".
The Elite field will host Wade War IX next week at Three Creeks Park near Groveport, Ohio.

Well, Shaun proved it at NAPRA’s milestone event, the Wade War held in Troy today. He caught 77.25” including a 18.75 behemoth to edge two time Wade War champ David Craig’s 75.25” inches on a tough bite and weather day. Steve Eckstein was close to Dave with 74.75” for third.

STAGE 4- STILLWATER RIVER
NAPRA NEWS: Eckstein Beats Rain and Field!
Steve Eckstein continues to keep his lead in the AOY standings thanks to great 1st place finish in the Elite #4 on the Stillwater today. Despite a 38 minute pause for a down pour, soreness from yesterday's Gauntlet run, and travel, he collected his tunnel like vision to edge out a very close top 5 finishers. His 63.75" bested second place Aaron Newell's 59.75". We had a triple tie for 3rd that came down to a double tiebreaker.
When all was said in down Tony Herald claimed 3rd, David Craig 4th and Ryan Buckler 5th. Each had 58.75". Shaun Gardner had 6th place with 56.75 followed byRalph Evans and 55.75 for 7th. Pete Ziehler had 50.5 followed by Dave Schaller for 8th and 9th.

Newell’s 19” Beast Edges Him Past Craig for Yum Elite Stage 5
The anglers got to pick and choose their spots. Aaron utilized his favorite spots, Twin and the Stillwater to vault him to the top spot in the Yum Elite Series Stage 5 event. The anglers got to pick their spots, time, and pace in a unique format for the Elite field. “This gave the anglers the chance to play to their strengths in terms of lures, conditions, and timing of their trip. The anglers sure came to play!’ stated NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler. Aaron’s 80.75” edged David Craig’s 80.5”, the second place finisher. Ryan Buckler, whom lost a tie breaker in the BOSS Series, was able to claim a tie breaker for 3rd over Tony Herald. Both had 78.75”. The anglers will return to the waters of the GMR next week as current conditions warrant a swap of rivers (GMR Tipp for the LMR Loveland sites).

FORTHCOMINGNAPRA NEWS: NEWELL WINS AGAIN/ CLOSE TO CLINCHING AOY!
Aaron Newell was nervous about fishing the Tipp City stretch of the GMR in the NAPRA Yum Elite Stage 6. He paired up with NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler and quickly adjusted to the conditions to show his mastery of the course and score 71" of fish. His latest victory will make the entire field hard pressed to catch him in the AOY points race. Second place angler Ryan Buckler yelled "Not again" as he was edged again for the top spot by 1/2". His 70.5" was a great day but just not enough to best Newell. Shaun Gardner finished 3rd with 67" followed by Dave Schaller's 66.5" for forth.
The Elite Field will have a week off before they end their regular season July 30th on the waters of the LMR in Loveland.

NAPRA NEWS: Newell Wins Again and Eyes AOY Honors
Aaron Newell is going to need a bigger mantle to secure all his awards. Today, in the NAPRA YUM Elite Event #7 he earned another 1st place win and most likely the AOY award heading into the NAPRA CUP in two weeks. The field fished the Stillwater River again after a multitude of changes due to a recent blast of rain disabling other original choices. His 78.5" of fish included no fish under 15". Way to go! Ralph Evans, winner of the BOSS #1, returned to the podium with a strong 2nd place finish. His 75.75" included an 18" behemoth! Steve Eckstein finished 3rd with 74" even and was able to vault Ryan Buckler (7th today with 61") for 2nd place in the AOY race. The Elite Series will conclude their season with the NAPRA CUP in two weeks on the waters of the LMR in Bellbrook.

Evans storms off with two 18" bass to surely win the first stage of the BOSS Series. His totals in the Elite Series didn't improve his BOSS totals but kept him just enough ahead of Matt Wesley's 50". Dave Craig scored a bundle of fish on his Saturday trek to get 48.25" for third place. Overall a great deal of fish were caught despite crappy weather and blustery conditions. CRAIG FINDS EM' BEATS THE RAIN TO BEAT THE FIELD!
David Craig had a game plan to get out Saturday and get the fish before the lightening storm of the century hit the majority of the waters for the BOSS Series. His intuition paid off as he caught lunker after lunker. He told NAPRA CEO Pete Ziehler it was a great day and it was surly form him. His 53" total included two 17.5's and an 18 for a massive bag. Fishing Slate River in Kentucky was newcomer Ryan Buckler whom finished 2nd with 50.75 to edge Josh Baird's 50.5 for third. Multiple anglers caught fish over 17 on a very tough day for some. “Super slow” was the way to go for David Craig as he showed his craft of being patience, looking for key bites, and securing a big limit. His 51.25” including an 18 ½” beast of a fish helped him win the BOSS Series Stage 4. Second place went to Aaron Newell with 50.5” Ralph Evans and Ryan Buckler both had 49” with Ralph winning the tie breaker (biggest fish) to bump Ryan to fourth.
The BOSS Series will have their final stage with the Top 12 looking to punch their tickets to the BOSS Cup while two anglers battle for the “Lucky 13” spot as alternates.

Ryan Buckler managed some big fish (17.5x2, 17) to get 52" and win the BOSS Series Stage 5. This is Ryan's first career win and was very impressive by the pictures sent. The final BOSS event now cements the BOSS field in which the Top 12 will battle it out for a winner take all BOSS CUP championship. Finishing 2nd was Dave Craig's 49.75" (winner of regular season), followed by Tim Smith's consistent run of fish with 49.5". The last stage's results are:

THE LOOK ON RYAN BUCKLER'S FACE WHEN HE REALIZED HE WON HIS FIRST NAPRA EVENT WAS PRICELESS! THE 2023 ROY HAS BEEN SECOND MANY TIMES THIS YEAR AND HAD TO BATTLE A TOUGH FIELD AND TOUGH DAY TO WIN THE 2023 BOSS CUP. HIS 73.75" EDGED DAVID CRAIG'S 71.25" TO TRADE SPOTS FOR THE FINAL EVENT.
