RECAPS OF ELITE EVENTS
S South #1 -- Rookie paces field to win South #1
Bobby Tribbey managed 2 nice keepers to claim the South #1 event on the waters of Twin Creek in Germantown. Bobby's 15.75" and 12" were just want he needed to edge Randall Savage's big 16.5" fish! Finishing 3rd was Travis Lakes followed by 2017 Wade War Champ Mike Hitzman with 8".
South #2 Rising Waters don't stop Lakes from Scoring big!
With a nice slew of fish Travis Lakes scored 61" of fish to edge Joey Rhodes for the win at the South #2 in Greenfield, Ohio (Paint Creek). Travis scored a nice 15 and had just enough to fend off Rhodes and 3rd place finisher Jimmy Colyer (52"). Congrats to Mike Hitzman for wining the Big Hammer Big Catch with a stupendous 18" bass!
South #3 Recap New waters same Results as Hitzman wins South #3
With 4 anglers within 4 inches of each other the South Eite, sponsored by BassGrubb Hand Poured Baits, had probably the closest results in NAPRA history today as Michael Hitzman bested the other 3 by just over 2 1/2 inches. His win at the Stillwater at Aullwood was impressive. His 56" of fish was followed by Trail standings leader Travis Lakes (53.5), Joey Rhodes (52.5) and Jimmy Colyer (52).
What a day for the South!
South #4 Lakes gets Revenge on Hitzman
The South #3 was won by 3.5" by Mike Hitzman. This time around Travis Lakes was able to go from the spoiled to spoiler as his 56.5" of fish edged Mike Hitzman by just 2". Travis caught a consist bunch of fish averaging roughly 11" to win the event. Hitzman caught a nice 14" but was edged out despite a very nice day of 54.25 inches. Jimmy Colyer was close behind for 3rd with 51.5 inches of fish. Way to go guys!
SOUTH #5 RECAP
Tribbey Wins Event and Looks to Secure ROY Honors Next Week
Bobby Tribbey, a 2018 rookie, not only won the South's #5 event at the East Fork of the LMR (Batavia) but will secure the 2018 ROY Honors by default (participation) next week as the South will wrap up their season. Fishing was tough for the anglers and no "pigs" were caught but Bobbys 49.5" was just enough to edge Travis Lakes by 1". Lakes holds a 5 point lead over Mike Hitzman for the division title as those two will pretty much be battling for the Title next week.
South #6 Lakes Edges Savage by a Gill!
Travis Lakes managed to score his last fish at 10". Little did he know that would be enough to edge 2nd place finisher Randal Savage by 1/2" (55 to 54.5) to win the South #6 and secure the South 2018 Elite Title. Very close behind was Bobby Tribbey with 52.5 Inches.
The bigger question is was this event a battle for Trail lead or a spot in the Wade War. Four anglers from the South Elite Trail will represent NAPRA in the 2018 Wade War! Way to go guys!
